What is the purpose of Theologues?
A theologue is a student of theology, and Theologues is a place for Christians to seek a connection to the orthodox Christian faith and cultivate the desire to explore said faith. No person is an island, and this statement is true for all Christians. Whether we understand it or not, our beliefs have been shaped by those who came before us. By understanding what these people believed about God and why they believed, we can understand more about God for ourselves. Doing this requires searching the Scriptures, learning about Tradition, and encountering the same God these ancient theologians experienced, as well.
Who’s behind Theologues?
Theologues was originally started by Zach Perkins, Brandon Peach and Joe Szczepaniak based on a passion to know God more intimately through the scriptures and tradition. Under them, Theologues grew quickly, and the Roundtable podcast was created shortly after. However, the site was hacked with all of the data wiped.
The current faces behind Theologues are Adam Thrash, a software engineer and youth worker, and David Marshall, a full-time student at Fuller Theological Seminary. Both were occasional writers for the previous iteration of Theologues. It’s the desire to explore our faith that has led Adam, David, and the other writers of Theologues to want to see it return. After all, most of us are still students of theology and passionate about writing as a result. We come from many different theological backgrounds – Baptists, Catholics, Anglicans, Orthodox, Methodists, Lutherans, and more – and we all have a passion for knowing and sharing the truth of Jesus Christ. Even with our varied beliefs, we all seek to know God deeply and to be in conversations with each other about our differences and similarities.
That sounds awesome! Can I write for Theologues?
